Payments to Egypt just got easier! We’re excited to announce that you can now make bank and mobile money payouts to recipients in Egypt. You can initiate transfers to Egypt via the Flutterwave dashboard and our APIs.

How to initiate a transfer to Egypt

To initiate a transfer to a recipient in Egypt, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Flutterwave dashboard

  • Navigate to Payments

  • Click on New Transfer

  • Select Transfer to Bank Account or Mobile Money

  • Enter the recipient's information, including the bank name, account number, phone number, and all required information. 

  • Enter your transfer PIN to confirm the transfer.

How long does an EGP transfer take?

Transfers to Egypt are processed within 1-2 business days. Please note that there is a cut-off time of 3:00 PM (GMT+3) for EGP transfers. Any transfer initiated after 3:00 PM (GMT+3) will be processed the next working day.

How can I enable Egypt Transfers on my Flutterwave Account?

Kindly chat with us or send an email to hi@flutterwavego.com to enable EGP transfers on your Flutterwave account. Our team will review your request, and you will receive a decision within 48 hours.

What are the criteria for my account to be enabled for EGP payouts?

We require complete KYC documents to enable your account for payouts to Egypt. Please note that additional KYC information might be required based on your business operations.

What Banks and Mobile Money wallets are available for EGP payouts?

We support all banks and mobile money wallets available in Egypt today.

What are my daily limits for transfers?

The following daily  limits apply to mobile money and bank payouts in Egypt:

  • Minimum amount: EGP 5 

  • Maximum amount: EGP 450,000

What is the pricing for EGP Transfers?

For both mobile money and bank payouts, we charge a 1% fee per transaction, with a minimum of 20 EGP, capped at 25 EGP. This fee, exclusive of VAT, applies only to non-IMTO merchants.

My transfer was successful, but I haven’t received value. What should I do?

Chat with us or send us an email with a screenshot of the transfer reference. We’ll be happy to help.

Are cash pick-ups available?

Cash pick-ups are available; however, they’re currently limited to International Money Transfer Operators (IMTOs). We’ll be sure to notify you once it is available to all Flutterwave businesses.

Who are IMTO merchants?

An IMTO (International Money Transfer Operator) merchant is a business, such as a remittance company, that specializes in cross-border money transfer services. This payout solution is reserved for licensed IMTO businesses processing remittances to different countries.

As an IMTO merchant, how do I get enabled for EGP payouts?

If you’re a new merchant, sign up on Flutterwave by contacting our Sales Team here.

For existing merchants, inform your Relationship Manager or send us an email for your account to be enabled for EGP payouts. We might require you to provide additional KYC information for your account to be enabled. Our team will review your request, and you will receive a decision within 48-72 hours.

As an IMTO merchant, do I need to be licensed in Egypt to process payouts?

No, you don’t have to be licensed in Egypt. However, we would require you to be licensed in your country of incorporation.

How do I get enabled for cash pick-ups as an IMTO merchant?

As an IMTO merchant, you can either chat with us or send an email to hi@flutterwavego.com requesting that your account be enabled for cash pick-ups. We might ask for some additional documents or information depending on the review from our Compliance team.

What payout options are available for IMTOs in Egypt today?

IMTO can process local EGP transfers to all banks and mobile wallets, USD transfers to banks, and cash pickup for both local EGP and USD (Egypt post, Fawry).

Does Flutterwave have physical cash pickup locations?

No, we don’t, but we have partnered with Fawry to disburse cash at all their pick-up stations all around Egypt.

How does the cash pickup process work?

  • The Sender selects the cash pickup option and selects the preferred pickup location

  • Your recipient will receive a unique Fawry code via SMS or email.

  • The recipient must present their valid national ID (or Passport for non-Egyptians) and the unique Fawry code at one of the designated cash pickup agent locations (usually a partner bank or exchange house).

  • The Fawry agent verifies the details and disburses the funds in cash in the requested currency.

What is the timeline of delivery for Cash pick-ups?

It’s near real-time. Once a transfer is made, the recipient can go to any Fawry cash pick-up point to pick up their cash with their unique reference code. 

Please note that all pick-up requests carried out after the bank cut-off time of 3 PM (GMT+3) would be processed the following day, and all weekend requests would be processed on the next business day.
