Payout Rules is a new security feature that grants business owners total control over their Flutterwave payouts. With this new feature, you’re able to set the amount limit, currency limit, transfer count, etc. This new feature helps to prevent any unauthorized or fraudulent activity on your Flutterwave account.
How Do I Set Payout Rules For My Flutterwave Account?
To set payout rules for your Flutterwave account, simply follow these steps:
Log in to your Flutterwave dashboard.
Navigate to Settings, then select Business Preferences.
Click on the Payout Rules tab, located on the far right.
Set your preferred payout rule


Please note that only account owners can view payout rules for F4B accounts.
What Payout Rules Can I Set On My Dashboard?
You can set payout restrictions based on different criteria:
Single Currency Limit: Set a maximum amount for a single payout in a specific currency.
Daily Cumulative Limit: Define the total amount that can be transferred in a single day.
Transaction Count: Limit the number of transactions a team member can make daily.
Day of the Week: Specify which days of the week a team member can initiate payouts.
Month of the Year: Restrict payouts to certain months.
Specific Payout Entities: Restrict payouts to only certain bank accounts or recipients.
Who Can Create A Payout Rule?
Only account owners can create payout rules.
How Many Currencies Can I Set Payout Rules For?
You can set payout rules for all transfer currencies supported on Flutterwave today. Find the list of supported currencies here.
Do Payout Rules Affect Bulk Payouts?
Yes, payout rules also impact bulk payouts. All transfers within the set rules will be successful, while others that exceed the limit will fail.
What Happens If The Payout Limit I Set Is Higher Than My Flutterwave Account Limit?
The limit you set will be accepted and displayed on your account. However, any transfer that exceeds your default Flutterwave payout limit will fail, regardless of the limit you have set for your team.

Can I Set Multiple Payout Rules?
Yes, you can combine multiple restrictions to create a customized and robust security rule. For example, you can set a maximum of 5 daily transactions and a total daily cumulative limit of NGN50,000, only on weekdays.
Do These Restrictions Also Apply To The Account Owner?
No, the restrictions you set only apply to your team members. As the account owner, you have full access to all payout functions without these limitations.
Can I Modify or Remove These Restrictions?
Yes, you can edit or delete any of the payout rules at any time from your account settings. This allows you to adjust permissions as your team's needs or roles change.
Does This Feature Affect API Payouts?
No, payout rules are limited to only dashboard users who can initiate payouts. It doesn’t apply to transfers initiated via APIs.
