Flutterwave Inactive & Dormant Account Policy

Inactive accounts are accounts that haven’t received any successful payment in the past 180 days, while dormant accounts are accounts with no payment in the past 365 days.

Certain restrictions apply to inactive or dormant accounts. For such accounts, you will not be able to receive payments or initiate payouts, and all pending settlements will be flagged until your account is reactivated. 

How do I prevent my account from being inactive or dormant?

To prevent your account from being inactive or dormant, simply receive a payment of any amount and currency into your Flutterwave account. 

How to reactivate your inactive account

To reactivate your inactive account, follow these steps:

  • Visit https://app.flutterwave.com/login to reset your password.

  • Once you’re logged in, click on the “Continue to verification” button.

  • Upload your NIN slip and complete your liveness verification. Please note that the verification can only be done by the account owner.

  • Once this is done, your account will be reviewed and reactivated within 24 hours. 

How to reactivate your dormant account

Dormant accounts are accounts with no payment activity in the past 365 days.  To reactivate your dormant account, follow these steps:

  • Visit https://app.flutterwave.com/login to reset your password.

  • Once logged in, click on the “Start onboarding” button.

  • Complete your verification and upload your business documents and verify your identity. Please note that the verification can only be done by the account owner.

  • Once this is done, your account will be reviewed and reactivated within 24 hours. 

What happens to the funds in my account? 

The funds in your inactive or dormant account remain safe. You will be able to see your available balance on the dashboard by selecting “Balance” on the left panel of your dashboard. However, you can only access the funds after reactivating your account. 

Can I receive payments if my account is inactive or dormant? 

No, you cannot receive payments if your account is inactive or dormant. You can only receive payments after reactivating your account. 

Can I continue to access all Flutterwave features if my account is inactive or dormant? 

No, you can only access the Home and Balance page if your account is inactive or dormant. Other features on Flutterwave for Business will be restricted. 

What features are restricted? 

The following features are restricted for inactive or dormant accounts:

  • Transactions - Refunds, Chargebacks, Transaction History

  • Customers

  • Store - Overview, Orders, Products, Product Categories, Shipping, Store Settings, etc. 

  • Payments - Transfers, Collections, Invoices, Payment links, Bill Payments, etc.

  • Subaccounts

  • Settings - Profile, Business Preference, Settlement Account, Team, Permissions, API Keys, Webhooks, etc.  

Will I be able to access the APIs if my account is inactive or dormant? 

No, all API functionalities will be suspended if your account is inactive or dormant. To continue to access all API features before your account is inactive or dormant, simply receive a payment. 

I’m unable to reactivate my account. What should I do?
