I often say our people are our secret sauce. They are the ultimate engine behind everything we build, giving us the capacity to create solutions that power businesses, unlock opportunities, and move money seamlessly across Africa and beyond. That belief became even clearer to me as we closed out 2025 and reflected on just how far we have come together.
Scaling Africa’s Digital Infrastructure
Our journey has led to a massive milestone: Flutterwave has now processed more than 1 billion transactions and moved over $40 billion in total payment value. This foundation allowed us to achieve incredible momentum over the past year. Wallet-based collections surged by 289% in transaction count, while bank transfer value increased by 184% as businesses and consumers increasingly turned to local payment methods.
We supported payments in over 50 global currencies across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America, while securing new licenses in Senegal, Zambia, and Cameroon. We also deepened key partnerships with Circle and Polygon to integrate stablecoin capabilities into our infrastructure. This enhances our cross-border settlements, ensuring companies can continue to rely on Flutterwave to scale faster and expand confidently.
Behind every one of those milestones are the individuals who make it happen: Wavers–Flutterwave employees.
In a year shaped by changing economic conditions, shifting regulations, and increasing complexity across many of our markets, our teams never stopped showing up. I saw people solve difficult problems under pressure, support customers through critical moments, build products at speed, strengthen our systems, improve operational efficiency, and continue delivering with excellence even when conditions were not always easy. That level of impact deserves to be celebrated.
Growth is Earned Through Impact
This year, over 100 Wavers were promoted across the company. I am incredibly proud of everyone recognized during this cycle.
At Flutterwave, growth is earned through meaningful contributions to the business and to the mission we are building together. These promotions reflect consistent performance, strong feedback from peers, expanded ownership, and the ability to operate at the next level with increasing independence.
As we continue to grow, the people who will shape our future are those who consistently step up, solve hard problems, support others, and move the company forward. We are fortunate to have many of those people across our teams today.
Balancing Growth with Care
While we celebrate our progress as a business, we also recognize the broader economic realities and hurdles that people continue to face globally. We know that these pressures are felt directly by our team, which is why we are providing a one-time economic relief payment for all Wavers globally. In Nigeria, where recent tax regulation changes have uniquely impacted take-home pay, we have introduced specific tax adjustment support alongside cost-of-living updates for all eligible employees.
These decisions are intentional. True leadership is about balancing fiscal discipline with protecting our people through tough times. As a company, we believe the milestones we achieved were only possible because of the grit, resilience, and commitment of our people. When the business grows, we must find meaningful ways to support the people building that growth every day.
We want growth at Flutterwave to mean something deeper than a new title. Our goal is to provide an arena where builders can thrive, push boundaries, and deeply share in the impact and success of the platform they help grow every day.
The Next Decade Belongs to You
As we continue into 2026, I remain incredibly optimistic about what we are building at Flutterwave.
Africa is building faster, trading wider, growing deeper, and thinking bigger. Businesses are expanding earlier, operating across borders with more confidence, and demanding infrastructure that can scale with them globally. Flutterwave sits at the center of that transformation, helping power the next phase of African commerce and global connectivity.
But building for the future of African commerce takes more than code and infrastructure. It takes raw grit of resilient people who believe so deeply in the vision that they are willing to step into the arena and build through every wave of uncertainty. That is exactly what I continue to see across this company every day.
To the Wavers who were promoted, congratulations. You earned the trust and the responsibility.
To every Waver in our diverse global team, thank you. Thank you for your hard work, resilience, and belief in what we are building together. The work you do every day is what makes this company worth building.
The next era of Flutterwave belongs to you. 🚀🦋
