How do we ensure that we offer you and every single merchant the opportunity to grow locally and globally by allowing you to seamlessly accept payments from anyone?

There are two ways we do this.
First, by building a robust payment infrastructure network that allows everyone to accept payments from anywhere in the world.
Second, by diligently maintaining the built network.

We’ve already done the first and since the second is continuous, we’ll never be done with it. You can rest assured that we’re always doing everything we can to ensure you experience a secure, seamless payment service. That’s why we are making changes to our KYC/Verification Process.

From Sunday, August 1st, 2021, our new KYC/Verification process will go live for all existing, new, and prospective merchants globally.

Here’s what you can expect:

New/Prospective Merchants

New merchants who do not submit the required verification documents immediately after signing up, will be unable to accept payments until they do.

Existing merchants

Existing merchants that are yet to submit required verification documents, will be notified and given a grace period to submit required verification documents. The merchants who do not submit the required verification documents after the grace period elapses will be unable to accept payments.

In summary, merchants with no verified documents will be unable to accept payments in any capacity but existing merchants will be given a grace period to submit the required documents.

How does this affect me as a merchant with verified documents?

As a merchant who has verified their documents with us, this does not affect you in any way and you’ll continue to transact as usual.

How does this affect me as a prospective merchant that just wants to register to check out the platform?

This new process does not affect your ability to register and check out our platform. You’re able to explore the many ways Flutterwave can help grow your business both locally and globally. However, you’ll be unable to accept live payments from your customers until you’ve had your required documents verified.

How does this affect me as an existing merchant that is yet to submit the required documents?

You’re allowed to continue accepting payments and using Flutterwave to grow your business. You’ll be given a grace period when you’re expected to submit the required documents. You’ll only be unable to accept payments if you do not submit the required documents at the end of the grace period.

Thank you for trusting us on this journey as we continue to create endless possibilities for you. If you have any other questions, just let us know here, and we’d be happy to help.
